Canadian Winter Wonderland Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - UK / Toronto
Following your daytime flight to Toronto you will be transferred to your hotel. Winter weather has
no effect on one of the city’s fabulous attractions - the Eaton Centre. Its glass dome roof
shelters more than 350 shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, so rain or shine, your
shopping expedition is in comfort. The soaring CN Tower, piercing the sky 1815ft high, gives
an exciting perspective on the city and its surroundings.
Hotel: Courtyard by Marriott
Day 2 - Toronto / Niagara Falls / Toronto
We leave early this morning to make our way to Niagara Falls, our destination for today. After
taking in the incredible majesty of the Falls we will head to the IMAX centre for a presentation
on this famous landmark. In the afternoon you may wish to join us on an optional Helicopter ride
over the Falls, go shopping for some local souvenirs, or maybe a little flutter at the Fallsview
Casino. We return to Toronto this evening.
Day 3, 4 & 5 - Toronto / Jasper (3 nights aboard 'The Canadian')
Your day is at leisure to further explore all that Toronto has to offer. This evening we transfer
to Union station and join ‘The Canadian’. This is the country’s premier train and your carriage
and hotel for this transcontinental journey. Elegant dining and excellent service are standard
on this famous iron horse of VIA Rail. Magical vistas make a marvellous moving picture as you
cross Canada from the lakes, through the plains and prairies, and into the Rockies. When night
falls, snowy scenes shimmer in moonlight and a comfortable Silver & Blue class cabin awaits you,
helping you resist the temptation to watch for too long and ensuring you wake refreshed in the
morning.
Day 6 - Jasper
On arrival in Jasper, your luggage is taken from the train and transported to your hotel - leaving
you unencumbered to join your Tour Director on a stroll through the village to the hotel, where we
stay for four nights. At the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Jasper is picture postcard perfect in its
winter coat. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Take a dip in the hotel's indoor pool, or relax
in the hotel bar.
Hotel: Chateau Jasper
Day 7, 8 & 9 - Jasper
Why not head into Jasper to do as much or as little as you want! The choice is yours and the possibilities
are broad and varied. Jasper National Park is a huge area of preserved wilderness, whose lakes and rivers,
raging torrents in summer, become the most inspiring ice sculptures in winter. You have three full days in
the pristine wilderness of Jasper National Park, with an included canyon tour to help make it memorable.
Join us for a journey to one of its deepest gorges, Maligne Canyon, with ice caves and frozen waterfalls
like frosted glass above deep frozen pools. Optional activities which can be arranged by your Tour Director
include Banff sightseeing, snow-shoeing along picturesque trails, skiing, ski-doo rides and dog sledding
with a team of huskies up-front.
(Please note all activities are subject to weather conditions. Although the featured snow-bound landscapes are usualy visible in the early winter season, extensive snowfals cannot be guaranteed).
Day 10 - Jasper / Vancouver (1 night aboard 'The Canadian')
Make the most of your last morning in the Rockies before rejoining the train for its afternoon departure,
bound for Vancouver. The track snakes through the mountains, and the wrap-around windows of the train’s
Observation Dome put all the snow clad peaks and starry skies within your line of vision.
Day 11 - Vancouver
On arrival at Canada’s coastal city of Vancouver, transfer is arranged to the hotel where we spend the last
three nights of the tour. A mid morning arrival allows for an optional orientation tour that will help prepare
you for some independent exploration. Spread low along the waterfront with the mountains soaring behind it,
Vancouver boasts one of the world’s most beautiful natural settings and enjoys a more temperate climate than
its sister cities of Canada. Your day is at leisure in this stylish and cosmopolitan city.
Hotel: Renaissance Harbourside (08) Rosedale on Robson (09)
Day 12 & 13 - Vancouver
Two full days at leisure here could become a tale of two cities for those who wish to sightsee, for the old world
charm of rather British Victoria is just across the water, easily reached by ferry. Alternatively, a day trip
along the ‘Sea to Sky’ highway to Whistler is a great scenic option. Theatre lovers might get tickets for a show,
and for those in need of ‘retail therapy’ the shopping opportunities could occupy your whole time here and more.
After recharging your batteries and following your included continental breakfast stroll the cobbled streets of
Gastown to a lively little cafe and visit the huge Chinatown for a meal with a special mood.
Day 14 - Vancouver / UK
The morning is at leisure in Vancouver until transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Perhaps relax
in Stanley Park for a lasting memory of the city.
Day 15 - Return Landing
Morning arrival at your chosen UK airport. Times vary.
