Eastern Canada Discovery
The essence of eastern Canada is encapsulated here. We take you to Toronto with its futuristic towers and effervescent theatreland. We call at the country’s capital city and follow the forested banks of the Ottawa River to lakeside St. Adele and World Heritage Site, Quebec City. Then we journey to Tadoussac – where five species of whales are among the regular visitors. From here we make our way to Montreal for shopping in its subterranean malls, and finally take the train back to Toronto before our onward journey to Niagara Falls.

Your holiday begins at your chosen UK airport with a daytime flight to Toronto. You are met on
arrival and transferred to your city hotel, for the first two nights of the tour.
Hotel: Strathcona
Day 2 - Toronto
A morning city sightseeing tour is your opportunity to get your bearings in Toronto. The tour
views the formidable CN Tower - the world’s tallest freestanding structure, Ontario Parliament
building, twin-towered City Hall, super-modern Skydome Stadium, and Casa Loma Castle, and
introduces you to the city’s bustling harbourfront and Chinatown. We end at the Eaton Centre
- where a huge choice of shops and eateries is the ideal place for an excellent lunch and some
afternoon ‘retail therapy’! The remainder of the day is at leisure in Canada’s
largest city, to stroll through the parks or along the shoreline.
Day 3 - Toronto / Ottawa
Today we leave behind Toronto’s majestic skyscrapers and begin our journey by train on Canada’s VIA
Rail. Our route by train takes you in comfort and style in VIA Rail’s first class service which includes
a 3 course meal and complimentary beverages. Travelling north east toward Ottawa, the gorgeously
graceful Canadian capital, you arrive in Ottawa late afternoon where you have an evening at leisure
and overnight stay.
Hotel: Capital Hill Hotel & Suites
Day 4 - Ottawa / Sainte Adele
Today we leave the Ontario cities behind and head out into the province of Quebec. We follow the meandering
contours of the Outaouis River before reaching our midway stopping point at Lachute. From here our journey
starts to take us in a more northerly direction into the Laurentian Mountains to Sainte Adele. With its
lakeside setting, our chosen hotel is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the Quebec outdoors.
Hotel: Le Chantecler
Day 5 - Sainte Adele
A former favourite holiday haven of eastern Canada’s glitterati, the village now has a split personality -
with charming houses lining its lake shore, and a modern center for such contemporary attractions as cafes
and eateries, biking and canoe hire / tours. A full day at leisure here can be as active or laid-back as
you like.
Day 6 - Sainte Adele / Quebec City
From the holiday playground of Quebecers to their home town, we return to the river at the only fortified city
in North America. Quebec City’s commanding position of the Diamante headland is a natural look-out post over
the St. Lawrence - and our base for the next two nights. Its narrow streets, lined with historic buildings
are also home to little brasseries for romantic rendezvous. Its stone gates and ramparts add drama and
intrigue, and its huge and immaculate parks seem purpose made for strolling.
Hotel: Gouverneur Sainte Foy
Day 7 - Quebec City
In 1985, the United Nations declared Quebec City a World Heritage Site - the only surprise is why they waited so
long. Neatly divided by time and the lie of the land, it is almost a tale of two cities, the upper and the lower.
Some eighty historic buildings have been carefully restored around the quaint Place Royale. Pavement cafes,
liberally scattered around the city, are perfect places for people watching. Excellent inns and chic shops abound.
This morning, we take you on a sightseeing tour. This afternoon is all yours, perhaps to climb the cobbled old
town streets, see the Notre Dame Basilica, visit the Chateau Frontenac or join one of our optional excursions.
Day 8 - Quebec City / Tadoussac
We leave the city behind today for a totally different tempo. Our destination is Tadoussac, a village with less
than a thousand locals and more than a fair chance of whale watching. Our route takes us up through the forested
slopes of the Laurentians, stopping at scenic look-out points as we descend to San Simeon, and tracing the North
Shore to the point where Saguenay River meets the St Lawrence, and the mightiest of marine mammals make regular
appearances. An included whale-watching cruise could be your introduction to Minkes, Blues, Finbacks, acrobatic
Humpbacks, or Beluga whales.
Hotel: Tadoussac Hotel
Day 9 - Tadoussac / Montreal
Today we leave the charming coastal village of Tadoussac behind and travel through the pastoral and picturesque
townships of Quebec. This afternoon we will arrive in Montreal for a two night stay. Why not make the most of
this evening and visit one of the many eateries or nightclubs Montreal is famous for.
Hotel: Maritime Plaza
Day 10 - Montreal
We start the day with an included city tour highlighting the Basilica, Old Montreal, Palais de Justice and on to
Mount Royal for a panoramic look out of the city. This afternoon spend your time at leisure perhaps going to the
Botanical Gardens or shopping in the 22km of underground malls.
Day 11 - Montreal / Niagara Falls
Today we leave the French Canadian city of Montreal and journey again on VIA Rail’s first class service through
the province of Ontario to Toronto. We then reboard the coach to Niagara Falls. This is your base for two nights.
Hotel: Best Western Cairncroft
Day 12 - Niagara Falls
A magnificent moment in any tour itinerary is your first sight of the crashing white water at Niagara Falls. We include
a sightseeing tour of the Falls area, then perhaps you could opt to head for the heights with a helicopter flight for
the grandest panorama. For the remainder of the day you could simply soak-up the splendid views from the comfort of a
restaurant table over a leisurely meal, or join the legendary ‘Maid of the Mist’ for her voyage through the spray to
the base of Horseshoe Falls.
Please note the Maid of the Mist may not be available before Mid May or after Mid October.
Day 13 - Niagara Falls / Toronto / UK
We leave today and head back to Toronto for your return flight to the UK.
Day 14 - Return Landing
Morning arrival at your chosen UK airport - times vary.
