Colours of the Fall Tour
"The Autumn leaves of New England provide the landscape colour for your 'Autumn leave'
with a difference! Flame reds and fiery russets, rich golds and deep ochres blend into a breathtaking backdrop,
hemming the shores of cool blue lakes, hugging the houses of Vermont villages and cloaking the foothills
of the White Mountains. To this we add the bustle of historic Boston, the sports resort of Stowe, the
beaches of Hyannis and a full day on Martha's Vineyard. A kaleidoscope tour in every sense."

Colours of the Fall Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - UK / Boston
Your Jetsave holiday begins with a non-stop flight from your chosen UK airport
Hotel: Midtown
Day 2 - Boston
A sightseeing tour this morning introduces you to the major highlights of historic Boston,
following the fascinating Freedom Trail which tracks the city’s landmarks of the American
Revolution, visiting the Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, and the Customs House, and including
rather more recent attractions like the ' Cheers' bar on which the famous television series
was based. The half-day tour comes to a close at Quincy Market - where there are ample lunch
opportunities. Your afternoon is at leisure to wander through the quaint and crooked streets
of this eminently strollable city. Or allow yourself a harbour view of Boston on a 1 hour
cruise.
Hotel: Midtown
Day 3 – Boston / Hyannis
We travel south this morning to the seascapes of Cape Cod. It’s a relatively short journey
but a huge step back in time with our en-route stop at the Pilgrim’s landing place of Plymouth
Rock. With a short visit to the ‘living museum’ of Plimoth Plantation, you will be struck by
what a fascinating place Plymouth is, a frozen date in time. Our onward journey then takes
us to Hyannis.
Hotel: Hyannis Harbour
Day 4 – Hyannis / Martha’s Vineyard / Hyannis
We include a round-trip ferryboat journey today – for a full day of independent
exploration on the fabulous island of Martha’s Vineyard. Once a place where grapes grew
and later a prosperous harbour for whaling ships, this charming isle is now a popular resort
with hiking and biking trails, beaches and enchanted tours.
Hotel: Hyannis Harbour
Day 5 – Hyannis / Sturbridge
Swapping the grandeur of the ocean for the tranquility of rural Massachusetts, we take off to
witness the legendary wealth of Newport, Rhode Island. In its Golden Age, this tempting town
was the favoured resort of the famously rich - the Vanderbilt’s and Astors among the owners
of a line of luxury villas on the 10-mile ocean road. A second source of pride in the town’s
100 year history is its long spell as the home port of the America’s Cup. After an interlude
here, we cut inland through pastoral scenes to Sturbridge for our overnight stay.
Hotel: Sturbridge Host Hotel (B)
Day 6 – Sturbridge / Stowe
A blacksmith, a bank, a cobbler’s, a copper shop, and a water-powered sawmill are among the
features of the optional excursion to Old Sturbridge Village. Rise early to make time for
this intriguing landmark before we journey north through Massachusetts and Vermont towards
Stowe, with rolling hills and rapid rivers, cool pools and cascades of colourful foliage
forming awesome panoramas.
Hotel: Mountaineer Inn
Day 7 – Stowe / North Conway
Today we travel east across the state line towards North Conway. We’ll call at Montpelier,
Vermont’s elegant state capital, before heading for the White Mountain foothills, every turn
in the road revealing a more ravishing picture of Fall foliage...the silver bark of birch
trees glinting in the sun, ambers, ochres and umbers in ancient oak forests, maples
splashing hillsides with impossibly scarlet hues.
Hotel: Grand North Conway
Day 8 – North Conway
Set by the Saco River, North Conway is surrounded by Mt. Washington Valley's hive of outdoor
activities. Leisure time this afternoon lets you enjoy the area at your own pace, perhaps
enjoying a light-hearted light bite on Main Street. But first there's a treat in store as
we include a trip on the Mount Washington Cog Railway. A un-miss able local attraction and
an unforgettable ride, this mountain-climbing steam train covers some of the steepest tracks
in the world to take you on a three-hour round trip journey through the White Mountains
National Forest and sometimes through the cloud base. Keep your fingers crossed for a clear
day when you can see four states, Quebec and the Atlantic from the summit.
Hotel: Grand North Conway
Day 9 – North Conway / Boston / UK
