The Great American Crossing Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - UK / New York
Begin your Jetsave journey on a daytime flight from your chosen UK airport to New York,
where you are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 - New York
Enjoy an included tour of Manhattan this morning that takes you past many of the famous
sights including the Empire State Building, Broadway and Chinatown. Your afternoon is at
leisure to explore this exciting city, perhaps a cruise around the Statue of Liberty,
shopping in some of the famous stores, or just take a stroll through Central Park.

Day 3 - New York / Washington DC
Today we cut through the state via the New Jersey Turnpike heading across the Delaware
River to Philadelphia. This afternoon we continue through Delaware and Maryland to our
evening stop - Washington DC, purposely placed mid-way between North and South, and planned
to perfection as a capital city of grace and charm.

Day 4 - Washington DC
Visit the key sites this morning with an included sightseeing tour. We will of course see
the White House and the Lincoln Memorial, the domed Capitol Building and have a visit to
Arlington Cemetery where the Kennedy brothers are buried. Enjoy your afternoon at
leisure in the city.

Day 5 - Washington / Niagara Falls
We leave Washington this morning on a long but rewarding journey. We will cross fertile farmlands
of Pennsylvania and the rolling hills of upstate New York en route to Niagara Falls. The town of
Niagara Falls has many scenic delights apart from the Falls themselves. There are magnificent
landscaped gardens, casinos, a big screen cinema and plenty of restaurants overlooking the majestic
Falls.

Day 6 - Niagara Falls / Detroit
Spend the morning sightseeing around the awe inspiring falls. This afternoon we re-cross the border
into the States, travelling westward for an overnight stay in Detroit. Enjoy a city tour on
arrival.

Day 7 - Detroit / Chicago
Today we head for the Windy City, en route savour the cherry orchards and citrus groves that shape
the landscape of rural Michigan. With the world’s busiest airport and the country’s biggest post office,
Chicago has a host of museums and an enviable setting on the lakeshore. On arrival, we’ll show you the
city skyline; pass the Civic Centre and Sears Tower before checking in at our overnight hotel. This
afternoon explore Chicago at your own pace.

Day 8 - Chicago
The time is yours to do as you please in this full day at leisure in Chicago. Inveterate shoppers may head
for the stores and galleries along the ‘magnificent mile’ of North Michigan Avenue. For a leisurely shortcut
to sightseeing take an optional harbour cruise followed by a lift to the observation Skydeck of Sears
Tower – 1,353 feet above street level. There are museums for everything from American Art to
Holograms.

Day 9 - Chicago / Sioux City
Today’s journey takes us through Illinois and Iowa, passing small towns, big farms and flat plains growing
much of America’s grain crops. We’ll cross the legendary Mississippi to arrive, early evening in Sioux City
by the banks of that other great River, the ‘Big Muddy’ Missouri.

Day 10 - Sioux City / Mt. Rushmore / Custer(Keystone)
We journey across the vast grasslands of South Dakota where you will recognise the scenery from countless
cowboy movies, before arriving in the Black Hills, we visit Mount Rushmore to see the huge carvings of
Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt, and then make our way to Keystone for our overnight
stay.

Day 11 - Keystone / Bighorn Mountain / Cody
The West is still wild in Wyoming’s Sioux territories which we cross today.
Our route climbs the Bighorn Mountains to Buffalo Bill country and the town of Cody, founded by
him on its high plateau.

Day 12 - Cody / Yellowstone National Park
Today we follow the banks of the Shoshone River to journey across the Absaroka Mountains before entering
Yellowstone National Park to tour the steamy geysers, hot pools, mud pots and thundering waters of
Yellowstone Falls. Bison and elk, bears and moose are often sighted here. Our overnight hotel is just
inside the park.

Day 13 - Yellowstone/Salt Lake City
Today we head south through Grand Teton National Park. You will witness the Western spirit in Jackson
before we journey beside the Snake River to the point where Idaho, Utah and Wyoming meet. We continue
across the last of the Rocky Mountains onto the Great Salt Lake and the famous city beside it, where we
overnight.

Day 14 - Salt Lake City/Bryce Canyon
Leaving the Wasatch foothills, the scenery changes from green valleys to the red rock country of southern
Utah and the geological wonders of the Colorado Plateau – stretching into Arizona and New Mexico. Ice, wind
and water have combined to carve the Bryce Canyon landscape of ‘hoodoo’ pillars and pavilions.

Day 15 - Bryce Canyon/Lake Powell/Grand Canyon
Still touring south, we cross the Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River, enter the 15-million acre Navajo
Indian Reservation, travel through the Painted Desert past Cameron Trading Post, making a stop on the way at
Lake Powell. Our finale of the day is our arrival at the Grand Canyon for the sightseeing spectacle of a
lifetime. Shifting shadows and shafts of sunlight make the canyon multi-coloured.

Day 16 - Grand Canyon / Las Vegas
An early start today, but well worth it, for those wanting to see the sun rise over the Grand Canyon
this morning. We will then continue our journey and follow parts of the old highway known as ‘America’s
Main Street’ as we leave the wonders of nature for the lights of Las Vegas. One of the liveliest and
loudest cities in the world. Enjoy a fantastic show, drop into one of the casinos and try your luck, stroll
the strip and watch the fountains dance to music or enjoy one of the many fantastic restaurants – you
won’t know what to do first.

Day 17 - Las Vegas / Los Angeles
From the glitzy world capital of entertainment, it’s a short hop to the emptiness of the Mojave Desert.
Our route takes us through the Mojave and over the San Bernardino Mountains, descending on the Cajon
Pass to America’s second largest city, Los Angeles. On arrival we will drive you through a short
orientation tour of this city.

Day 18 - Los Angeles / UK
There’s time this morning for some last minute sun-soaking or souvenir hunting before transferring
to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.
Day 19 - Return Landing
Morning arrival at your chosen UK airport - times vary.
