Classic Ceylon Itinerary

Day 1 - London Heathrow / Colombo
Depart on the morning SriLankan Airlines flight (arrives very early the following morning) or on the evening flight (via the Maldives, arriving early afternoon).

Day 2 - Colombo
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Experience the Colonial Heritage, fine dining and the shopping opportunities with the remainder of the day in the countries capital. Why not visit the National Museum, the Pettah Bazaar and some of the lovely temples.

Day 3 - Colombo / Sigiriya
Today we head for the 200m flat formed rock formation of Siguriya, visiting Dambulla Caves en route. The largest cave carries some 48 statues of Lord Buddha alone, with statues of some Hindu gods, (Vishnu and Saman).

Day 4 - Sigiriya
This morning, enjoy a two-hour ride on elephant back through the forest at Habarana. In the afternoon, visit the island’s medieval capital, Polonnaruwa. Your evening is at leisure to explore.

Day 5 - Sigiriya
In the morning climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the resort’s facilities or an optional excursion to Anuradhapura (paid locally).

Day 6 - Sigiriya / Kandy
Depart for Kandy, visiting a spice garden and batik factory en route. The afternoon is at leisure to explore.

Day 7 – Kandy
This morning, visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Later return to Kandy to visit the Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth. The main attraction of the city and also the most sacred Buddhist establishment in Sri Lanka is where one of Buddha's teeth is being kept.

Day 8 - Kandy / Nuwara Eliya
Today we drive to Nuwara Eliya, visiting a tea estate en route. Situated at around 2000m above sea level and surrounded by lush tea plantations Nuwara Eliya is the main hill resort of Sri Lanka and the heart of the tea industry. Your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 9 - Nuwara Eliya Beach / London Heathrow
Leave the hill country and transfer to the airport for your flight home, or extend your holiday at your chosen beach resort. Please call reservations for details on the destinations we can offer.
