Day 5 - Hluhluwe Game Reserve
An early morning drive to Hluhluwe Game Reserve, where we switch to open safari vehicles for a 3 hr game drive with a professional ranger. With open savannah, dense woodland and rocky hillside habitats, South Africa's oldest reserve is home to more than 80 mammal species and well over 400 types of birds. Its white rhino breeding program went a long way to restocking the whole of Africa. In the afternoon we stop at Lake St Lucia's wetland - where a cruise on the lake could show you hippos and crocodiles, pelicans and flamingos. Meals: BD

Day 6 - Hluhluwe Region / Drakensberg

Today's agenda is a truly South African experience, beginning with a visit to an Oudtshoorn ostrich farm (where “hands on” may mean riding the flightless birds!), continuing to the impressive Cango Caves, then enjoying “Kobus se Gat & the Swatberg Experience”. This is South African cuisine, hospitality and atmosphere at its best. With a beautiful backdrop of the Swatberg Mountains, the restaurant has no electricity, so all the fabulous food is cooked on an open fire. Return late afternoon. Meals: BL

The final leg of our journey completes the coastal run to Cape Town, the country's legislative capital. Our route takes us via Mossel Bay and historic Swellendam, and through the Cape Winelands - where we visit charming Stellenbosch and enjoy a wine tasting and cellar tour at one of the wine Estates.
