Mount Washington Cog Railway
A ride up Mount Washington, the world?s first mountain-climbing cog railway is included on day 8 of your tour. The ever-changing surroundings, the magnificent views, the sights and sounds of unique steam locomotives in action, and some of the steepest Railway tracks in existence, combine to place it among the best of the world?s great railway journeys. This is a trip that must be made to be fully appreciated.

Itinerary 2012

Coach

Day 1 - UK to Boston

Start your Jetsave Journey with a direct flight to Boston. We'll meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 2 - Boston

Enjoy our sightseeing tour of Boston this morning, and spend your afternoon as you like, taking in the sights of this historic city, like the Freedom Trail, Quincy Market and Fenway Park.

Day 3 - Boston to Portland

Travel up through New England this morning stopping at Salem, Massachusetts. Most famously known for the witch trials of 1692, this colourful coastal town is also home to a rich maritime history. You will have a chance to explore Salem, where you can learn about the trials and all things witchy or if witches are not your thing why not visit the New England Pirate Museum where you can board a pirate ship and discover hidden treasure. After leaving Salem we head up the coast to Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in the world, where we will stop so you can get your snaps before heading onto the 'Foodiest Small town' Portland, Maine.

Day 4 - Portland to North Conway

Travel west into the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Climb aboard the Mount Washington Cog Railway for an unforgettable three hour journey to the tallest peak in the East, where splendid views and vivid colour can span four states. We then head to North Conway for an afternoon to spend as you like, exploring this beautiful area.

Day 5 - North Conway to Burlington

This morning we set off along the Kancamagus Highway, often referred to as the best fall foliage viewing in the US. Stopping in Bath, you can see the Bath-Haverhill Bridge, New Hampshire's oldest covered bridge that spans the Ammonoosuc River and The Brick Store, America's oldest general store, featuring many New England specialities. We then head to picturesque Burlington, Vermont, voted one of America's "prettiest" cities. Our hotel is ideally located,within walking distance to the shores of Lake Champlain and Burlington Town Centre.

Day 6 - Burlington

Explore Burlington at your own pace today. Walk out of your hotel and find yourself at the Church Street Marketplace, take a wander or bike ride along the lakeside trail to admire the Fall colours, or enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Champlain. The choice is yours!

Day 7 - Burlington to Sturbridge

We leave Burlington behind us as we travel through Vermont's beautiful Green Mountains to the quaint Massachusetts town of Sturbridge, a unique blend of modern convenience and historic charm. Sturbridge offers Old Sturbridge Village, a 19th century living history museum, as well a quaint Main Street.

Day 8 - Sturbridge to Mystic

This morning is yours to enjoy Sturbridge before we head to Mystic, Connecticut, a must-see New England destination known for its charm, its two world-class museums, the Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Olde Mistick Village will allow you to shop while stepping back into the 1700's of this seaside town. Climb aboard historic tall ships, see New England's only beluga whales and grab a slice at Mystic Pizza, made famous by the Julia Roberts movie of the same name.

Day 9 - Mystic to Boston / UK

Make the most of your final few hours in Mystic, before leaving for Boston for your airport transfer and overnight flight to the UK.

Day 10 - Return Landing

Morning arrival at your chosen UK airport - times vary.
