An aptly named voyage through America's past and present showcasing the Amish simplicity and Colonial traditions. On its route from New York City through Pennsylvania and Virginia to Washington DC, you will see the Liberty Bell, the battlefields of Gettysburg and onto Williamsburg to take a glimpse at the window of time.

Day 1 - UK / New York
A daytime flight from your chosen UK airport takes you to New York, where you are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 2 - New York
Meet your fellow travellers at a welcome breakfast in an American diner this morning, before setting out on a sightseeing tour, taking in the sights like Greenwich Village, the Empire State Building and Ground Zero. This afternoon, explore 'the city that never sleeps' at your own pace.

Day 3 - New York City / Philadelphia, Pennsylvania / Lancaster / Strasburg
Set off to Philadelphia this morning and see the city's Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Continue on to the Amish country of Lancaster, America's second largest Amish community.

Day 4 - Lancaster/ Strasburg
Visit Wheatland*, the Federalist home of James Buchanan, the 15th U.S. President. Step off at the Amish Kitchen Kettle Complex, to try home-made jams, jellies and relishes. Then, learn more about the Amish people's history and traditions in a tour of their farmlands. This evening, enjoy dinner at an Amish family's home, a real highlight of your tour.**

Day 5 - Lancaster / Strasburg / Gettysburg / Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
Journey to Gettysburg site of the Union victory in the American Civil War. In your guided tour, you'll find out more about those three historic days in 1863 and the battle that changed the course of American history. Next, travel to Shenandoah National Park via the famous Skyline Drive, along the Blue Ridge Mountains, where you'll see the expanse of Shenandoah Valley's wilderness in all directions. This evening, you'll stay at a lodge inside the park.

Day 6 - Shenandoah Valley / Charlottesville / Williamsburg
Visit Monticello, home of U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, before arriving in historic Williamsburg. This evening, you'll begin your journey into Revolutionary-age America by having dinner in a Williamsburg tavern that specialises in colonial dishes.

Day 7 - Colonial Williamsburg
Begin today by watching 'Story of a Patriot', a short film introducing you to Colonial Williamsburg, one of the world's biggest living history museums. A recreation of 1770's life, people in costume bustle about the streets and 88 historic buildings are brought to life, like the Governor's Palace and Gardens.

Day 8 - Williamsburg / Washington DC
This morning visit the beloved home of the 1st president of the United States, General George Washington, where you have time to explore his estate, Mount Vernon, and the beautiful plantation grounds that he adored. Then travel on to Washington DC, where you can see the world-famous Smithsonian Institution's countless treasures, including the fabled Hope Diamond and the actual Apollo 11 Command Module. Tonight you may choose to enjoy an optional excursion including dinner and a twilight tour of Washington's famous monuments and memorials including those dedicated to Jefferson, Lincoln and Iwo Jima.

Day 9 - Washington, DC
Begin your day with a visit to Arlington Cemetery, where you will see the poignant Tomb of the Unknowns and the Kennedy grave sites. Next, visit the White House visitor centre, where you'll see how many changes this historic building has been through. On the rest of your city tour, you'll have amazing views of the Capitol building, White House, monuments and museums. You'll drive along Embassy Row and stop at the memorials dedicated to World War II, the Vietnam Veterans and the Korean War. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner in America's capital.

Day 10 - Washington, DC / UK
Make the most of your final few hours in Washington before leaving for the airport and your flight to the UK.
Day 11 - Return Landing
